[She should have known better than to think she could get away without Al noticing something was up.

She actually laughs at his question, but it's a little strained]

[There's some silence as Winry tries to articulate herself]

[It feels weird. Usually she can talk to Al about anything but she doesn't want to drag him in the middle of this mess. It'd be difficult for both him and Ed]

It's nothing I can't handle. I just think it'd be best for everyone if I was out of the house for a bit.

[Al's not stupid. He's noticed that this was filtered to him, not Ed -- and if she's this calm and airy about it, it means it something serious. If she was getting mad or in tears, he'd know he could fix it somehow, but this is pressing the edge of his Winry-expertise.]

Something did happen between me and Ed. But it's not his fault. Just those stupid Animus' fault. I think we could both do with some space right now.

Ed's my brother. You're my friend, practically family. Whatever happens, I am going to be affected, but there's no helping that. The least I can do is try to help influence things for the positive, even if it's just making you feel better.

[She does, and it actually makes her smile a for a little while before it falls again]

He told me that we use to be together. I don't think I handled the situation very well.

[Al gives a soft sigh, rubbing his hand over his face. It's there in his eyes, he wants to ask. But instead, he smiles.]

Yea, and I actually asked him if he was serious. [Dumb, dumb, dumb question. An insulting question]

Yea. So I'm sure you can see why I think it would be better for the both of us if we had some time apart. It's been too tense in the house...at least for me. [she can't imagine what Edward is feeling but she sure it isn't good]

[He's already thinking it over. If they stay apart, they won't be dealing with the issue. He knows Ed never brings things up until they're shoved in his face, and Winry's not much better... can he count on them making up on their own? Tossup.]

Win... I'm sure he's not upset with you, so much as upset with himself and with the situation, and the Animus. I know he's going to respect your feelings in this, no matter what happens.
